“Crazy quilting” is an art textile method in which asymmetrical fabric patches are sewn together, without following a repeating pattern, but with elaborate hand embroidery along every seam line. In this class, we will complete together a project titled, “Secrets of the Sea”. Each student will be provided with a pieced block including initial seam stitches and we will then explore many embellishment techniques. Students will learn various combinations of stitches using flosses, such as silk and cotton and metallic threads. Methods to be taught will include silk ribbon embroidery, beading and button techniques, and attachment of decorative objects, etc. The completed project will be suitable for a wall hanging, a cushion cover, or a box top.
