This 5-session series will provide an introduction to the geology and geography of the Hawaiian Islands, focusing on the volcanic processes that created and continue to shape our island home.  PowerPoint lectures and films will help us understand and appreciate these marvels of nature. 

If possible, there will be field trip scheduled after the lecture series ends, date and location TBA.

1.    Introduction to geology, volcanology, and major historic eruptions
2.    Hawaiian volcanoes – how they work
3.    Historic and recent Hawaiian eruptions
4.    Geology and geography of the islands – Hawai?i Island to Moloka?i
5.    Geology and geography of the islands – O?ahu to NW Hawaiian Islands

Handouts will provide resources for further study."
