Recently two new film productions based on Shakespeare have been released: Hamnet (2025), about Shakespeare's wife and son, and Hamlet (2025), where the kingdom is reimagined as an Indian multi-million (billion?)-dollar dynasty in contemporary London.
As dramatized, even though the dialog is Shakespeare's, it is fascinating how dramatically different are the movie interpretations. Participants will watch, on their own, selected versions, as available on Youtube. At the zoom sessions, we will discuss how the Hamlet you imagine from reading the play is exactly, similar, different or contrary to what you see and hear in the movie, as well as discuss the famous dialogues and speeches in the play.
