Hollywood Sci-Fi: Five Key Concepts

Writer and film buff Lloyd Lim leads students in a Zoom viewing of seven (7) sci-fi films, using five key concepts:  the mad scientist; alien intruders; space exploration; time travel, and the end of a world.
(a) In Flatliners, medical students experiment with artificially induced death and resuscitation;
(b) In The Day of the Dolphin, a marine biologist tries to make dolphins smart enough to speak;
(c) In The Village of the Damned, a doctor must find out why the women of his village got pregnant—at the same time;
(d) In Predator, a team of mercenaries led by a tough guy enters the jungle on a rescue mission and encounters an alien hunter;
(e) In Annihilation, a team led by a doctor investigates a strange distortion field;
(f) In Star Trek, Kirk and Spock encounter Romulans traveling through time;
(g) In Melancholia, a wedding is held for a woman with mental health issues as a planet approaches the Earth.
Bonus film TBD.
