Interval Based Strength Training for Active Older Adults is a low-impact interval training class. A movement or exercise is done for 20 seconds followed by a rest for 10 seconds. It's repeated eight times, often with optional progressions or modifications. That constitutes a "Tabata" (a format created in Japan). We rest for 30 seconds then move to the next Tabata.

Classes are constructed with 10-12 Tabatas focusing on arm, leg and core strength. We'll also do some cardio. Supportive shoes, light weights, and a bottle of water, and a chair without wheels are recommended. The magic of this class is that crossing between aerobic and anaerobic intervals results in your body continuing to burn calories after the class has ended. This is an exceptionally efficient way to exercise that's very music driven and fun to do.
