This is a 6 week, once weekly course. Each session will be divided into a short period of mindfulness practice in the vipassana tradition of Southeast Asia, followed by discussion. Participants are encouraged to share experiences and to ask questions based on their own experience. A list of resources - audio/visual, printed - will be provided, meant to serve as instruction in the practice as well as inspiration from various teachers in this tradition. Establishing a daily practice is encouraged as a way to feel at ease in our lives. People report a sense of well-being, better sleep, and a number of health benefits from the practice of Vipassana meditation. Let this be your experience too.
Michael first encountered Buddhist meditation while serving in the Peace Corps in Thailand in 1966. Since then, he was on the first staff at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, and has studied meditation with teachers of various Buddhist traditions.
